PPTC January 17, 2006 Meeting In attendance: David Pellegrini, Kathy Cronwall, Perri Gallagher, Karen Sherman, Jean Mufty, Ganesa Saur, Krista Samboy, Lisa Wallace, Rachael Praest, Amy Griffis, Charlotte Evans, Lisa Gentry, Pat Eppard, Aviv Dasalla, Daisy Gee, Barbara Gistand, Karen Drumm, Chelsea Azar Treasurer’s report: · Cookie dough sales kicked off, hoping for $4,000 to fund Sherry Johnson as Watershed Coordinator · Recycling-arrange to get cans & bottles at drop off on Fridays · Box tops-still collecting · Controls in place for treasurers, need audit system Principal’s report: · Performing Arts Center space possible for next year’s Winter Program · Melanie is a reader for CA Distinguished School grants · Academy to begin before school in mornings-an intervention program for 6-7 children per class. Taught by your child’s teacher, it boosts self-esteem & gives them a "head’s up" on material · Vision statement needed in draft form, perhaps a "re-inventing yourself theme" Fine Arts report: · Krista Samboy will begin teaching Creative Dramatics, a focus on the process of theatre-using your body and voice in exciting ways. Events report: · Hawk-a-thon needs rescheduling Room Parent report: · Daisy Gee has asked that a child-care needs survey be distributed and car-pools be assessed Library report: · $640 bill to be paid by PPTC Community Relations report: · Donated the Giving Tree items a week before Christmas, thank you to all who gave presents · Artificial Christmas trees were also donated to families Technology report: · Nancy has inventory list of hardware & software Campus Beautification report: · Proposal to stucco garden shed & have children paint murals--$100 · Pat Eppard to check on grant status for purchasing tools for gardening for kids · Gardening Days: Feb 18, Mar 18, April 1, April 22 Recycling report: · Need volunteers to haul recycling to center once a month Yearbook report: · Pictures & statements getting done Health & Safety report: · Jim Edwards has approval to buy emergency kits New Business: · Proposal for new music stands for $180-check Craig’s list, CV educational grant and Resources for Teachers first · Watershed Coordinator Sherry Johnson is teaching staff about the creek environment · Jr. Naturalists program to start in March · Endowment fund for permanent Coordinator a hope for next year · Science room-working on making the science room available to all students at all times Next meeting February 9, 2006 7pm
