PPTC Meeting Notes 10/11/05 President's Report ------------------ Need Events volunteers Budget ------ Sharon Horgan made a motion to approve the budget as a working budget. Pat Eppard seconded the motion and it passed. Fine Arts --------- Gladys Kong reported Art lessons to be given once a trimester beginning the 2nd week in November Performing Arts--In class curriculum for 4 consecutive weeks--need to schedule this with teachers soon School assemblies--Various musicians have been contacted Music for Minors--confusion on where grant $ is allocated Fundraising ----------- Bulb sale a fantastic success--$4200 in sales with 50% profit Look into Washington Mutual and Target Escrip--sign up Safeway, PW and credit cards on escrip.com Goal--Fund Watershed Coordinator and computers/software for classrooms ($10,000 needed) Principal's Report ------------------ Congratulations on National Blue Ribbon School 11/18 celebrate Blue Ribbon 11/18 Thanksgiving Feast 12/15 Winter Program at Canyon Melodie writing application for CA distinguished schools After school daycare providers have been contacted to see if they are interested in our site--more to come 11/10 Soul Shoppe at next PPTC meeting Speaker ------- Hasfa Burt from the CA Educational Foundation 22 grants to CV public schools last year needs volunteers Specific grant info to Jackie McCord at cvf.org Room Parent ----------- Jean Mufty reported there are now 10 room parents working on defining the role, networking and getting booths organized for Harvest Festival Events ------ Barbara Gistand needs more rooms to sign up for booths Hospitality ----------- Kitchen inventory complete Technology ---------- Dave Pellegrini reported mailing lists set up for all committees Information about those committees can be found on the website: pptc.datawebsystems.com School website: palomares.datawebsystems.com Campus Beautification --------------------- Rachael Praest reported the first clean up day will be this Saturday, 10/15 from 9am-2pm. Bring weedwhackers and wheel barrows as mulch is to be delivered. Pizza and coffee to be served. Children welcome. New Business ------------ A popcorn popper was a proposed rental or purchase. A suggestion of buying a large bag of pre-popped from Costco was made Next PPTC meeting 11/10, Thursday at 6:30pm to include a Literacy mini-lesson for K and 1st grade parents(Everyone is welcome to attend).
